PBIS

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is a proactive Multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) program designed to enhance the school's capacity to educate all students. PBIS looks at different levels or tiers of supports in different school settings to determine effective practices that may help to prevent or address behavioral problems. Kaunakakai School's "K-L-H" expectations of Kuleana: Responsibility, Laulima: Cooperation, and Ho`ihi: Respect are taught in different settings through explanation, modeling, and practice, monitoring, and acknowledging positive behavior.

 

Our Pono Point system is an exciting way to acknowledge students who are responsible, cooperative, and respectful. Once a month, students can "shop" at the pono point store, and we always welcome donations of toys, books, or household items throughout the year.
